Welcome to the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) Student Chapter of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a growing center of chemical expertise. Our chapter is a lighthouse for people who are passionate about chemical engineering, tucked away in the lush hallways of higher learning. We cordially encourage you to join us on a journey that goes beyond the conventional bounds of education in this dynamic environment, where creativity and curiosity collide and innovation ignites with every contact. The IIChE-AVVU student chapter was formed in February 2023. The full functioning of the chapter was started in April 2023 by the formation of 10 executive committees with 22 members, including a secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. One discovery at a time, we are collaborating to shape chemical engineering students' futures. Welcome to a voyage where knowledge is the only restriction and the possibilities are endless.

Our chapter serves as an ode to the strength of enthusiasm, teamwork, and an unwavering quest for knowledge. Our first event was Chem Talk 1, based on gas processing processes, extraction of crude using seawater, and real-life design. A captivating exploration into gas processing, crude oil extraction with seawater, and the practical aspects of design in real-life industries was followed by Chem Talk 2, an Alumni Sharing Experience in Chemical Engineering. An intimate session, where a distinguished alumni shared valuable experiences and insights, offering a glimpse into the professional journey of a chemical engineer. Chem talk 3, which was centered on petroleum refineries and the research aspects in the field, was by Mr.Chiranjeevulu, who had worked at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd., Mangalore, for 24 years in the Quality Control Dept. at various levels and retired as chief manager. The students were content with the knowledge shared and expressed their happiness to be a part of such an engaging discussion. ChemTalk 4 included Mr. Vignesh Sankar, a renowned technologist employed by Reliance Industries Limited, as the chief guest of honor. "An Insight into the Petrochemical Industry" was the title of Mr. Sankar's insightful speech, which provided the audience with a wealth of knowledge. He is a distinguished alumnus of our institution, whose presence and knowledge greatly benefited our students. These events helped us to be inspired and motivated by industry leaders, thought-provoking speakers, and visionaries who are shaping the landscape in the field of chemical engineering.

The chapter conducted two quiz competitions. Trivia Titans: A battle of wits where members showcased their knowledge and quick thinking in an intellectually charged competition. Trivia Titans was a testament to the diverse expertise within our chapter. Ocean Odyssey: Navigating through the depths of creativity, Ocean Odyssey challenged participants to explore the uncharted waters of problem-solving and innovation. This competition celebrated the fusion of imagination and technical aspects. Embarking on a journey of practical exposure, our members visited Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Kochi on May 27, 2023. This industrial visit allowed participants to witness real-world applications of chemical engineering principles and understand the intricacies of a leading petroleum corporation. Bridging academia and industry, Connect-Ed-Careers provided a platform for students to interact with professionals, gaining insights into career paths and industry expectations.

The chapter also conducted a workshop on solar photovoltaic applications. Unleashing the power of sustainable energy, this workshop delved into the intricacies of solar photovoltaic applications. Members were immersed in the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of harnessing solar power for a greener future in another workshop on the design of distillation columns using Microsoft Excel. Bridging the gap between theory and application, this workshop equipped participants with hands-on skills in designing distillation columns. The utilization of Microsoft Excel added a technological edge, making the learning experience both interactive and industry-relevant. They were not just mere events; rather, they were a rendezvous with inspiration, an opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the magic that happens when passionate individuals come together.

A grand commencement marked the birth of another exciting chapter for IIChe at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The inauguration ceremony was held on 20.10.2023 that set the tone for a year filled with innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. Bridging academia and industry, Connect-Ed-Careers provided a platform for students to interact with professionals, gaining insights into career paths and industry expectations. As the academic year unfolded, each event, workshop, and interaction contributed to the multifaceted development of our members. The IIChe Student Chapter at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing future leaders in the field of chemical engineering.
